I have so much to be thankful for, I'm blessed beyond measure. God has bestowed many blessings upon me. I have been very busy getting ready for holiday shows. It's been close to a month since my last post. I've been super busy getting ready for two upcoming jewelry shows. Where've I been hiding you ask? In the jewelry studio....aka My Craft Den.

Howdy folks!

Today I had my 2nd jewelry show of the season. Check out these wicked smart hats I found. Aren't they adorable? I got them in 3 colors, pink, turquoise blue and gold.

I added the rhinestone bling and voila'....Everyone's jealous (well, not everyone). I thought they'd be a cool little conversation item to wear to shows and set me apart from the rest of the other vendors.

I can just hear it now....customers wearing my jewelry as they shop at other vendors booths, and people seeing my designs and saying, "Where did you get that adorable jewelry piece?"...They of course would say, "From the chick in the hot pink diva hat, where else?".

I had a really great show. Thank you to my sweet friend Crede' for hosting. I have a few more shows left before Christmas. So, get your orders in early.

Luke wanted his picture taken in the blue hat. Can you see why? He's flippin adorable in it. Guess daddy wouldn't be too happy that he's in a tiara. Oh well!!! Hey, you're only 4 once, right?

Shecky's Girl's Night Out

My BFF and I went to this fun little gig last night in Downtown Dallas. It was called Shecky's Girl's Night Out. It was at the Fashion Institute Gallery. I bought the tickets like a year ago after someone told me what a fun time they had last year. Tickets at the time were 2 for $25. Let me tell ya, we GOT our money's worth. We both got gift bags FULL of fun stuff. Easily worth $100 ea. bag (see the pic's of the goodie bag stuff). We got to shop at various vendors and score some HOT fashion items. Just look at the adorable fur-lined clogs I got. You all know how I can't live without zebra print anything. If I see it, I have to buy it. Shecky's sponsors these Girl's Night Out's all over the country, NY, etc...You should google them and go to one when they are in your area.

Oh, I forgot to mention that while you shop they walk around giving out free wine, margarita's and champagne. Maybe that's why I spent so much money! Not really.

Woody Rice...

This morning Luke woke up and decided he wanted to dress like Woody from Toy Story. So, I said, "What the heck, let the boy have some fun". He loves Woody and Buzz Lightyear. He said that he wants all Woody and Buzz stuff for Christmas and the "Swinky" (slinky dog) from the movie. He is so cute, he kept walking around saying, "There's a snake in my boots!". We even went to Target in our outfit. He got lots of smiles and "I love your boots Woody" comments. It is fun having an adventurous 4 year old. I love that boy to pieces. He even went out in the backyard and picked mommy flowers. He's gonna make some girl real happy one day! So thoughtful, and such a gentlemen.

My sweet friend Tana defeated leg amputation, hip, lung and stomach cancer shortly after 10pm last night. She is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Tana was a special lady, always smiling and never met a stranger. She played piano at our old church when Jason and I used to sing in the choir. She was an extremely talented and gifted pianist.

Sweet Tana you will be missed by all. Please pray for her husband John and two young sons. Life will be so hard to go on without her. Fly high, sweet Tana. Now you can run with both legs.

This Halloween brought out some "interesting" people. Most interesting was my husband "Violet". A couple of his employee's went and picked out the Halloween outfits for 3 of the managers at work. They all looked like this, only I think Violet was the cutest. "She" sure had cute legs in her black leggings. Oh, and her breasticles were quite perky. I almost think she might have had some "work" done. Yes, he will probably kill me for posting this pic, but oh well, right??

On to the non-crossdresser of the family. Luke had a blast being Buzz LightYear this year. He showed everyone his laser superpowers and had fun trick or treating.

On our candy begging excursion we even ran into a few Presidential Candidate's wives. Crazy Inga and Lisa dressed up like Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain. It was a hoot!

I had to beg Luke to take his costume off. He wanted to sleep in it--wings and all. Cuzzin Beau was a cute little ghost. He kept reminding me he was a "fwendly"(friendly)ghost, not a scary one.

Fun was had by all! Hope everyone else had a safe time this year.

This weekend while daddy was away at a men's retreat with church Luke randomly asked me when Jesus was going to be done with your new house in heaven. I laughed and said since it was so big it would take a long time for him to build it. He said ok, and was fine with my explanation.

This morning at the crack-o-dawn he jumped in bed with me and said he needed to look outside to see if the sun had come up. He leaped to the window and quickly told me, "Mommy, the sun is up and Jesus needs to get busy building our house". I thought it was so cute.

Today brought another fun experience.....ANOTHER trip to the ENT. If you recall Luke had his 2nd set of ear tubes in Feb, tonsils and adenoid's out in July and now he has to have a 3rd set of tubes because his 2nd set have already fallen out. Long story short, Monday is the big surgery day. Oh, what fun! He's fine with it, in fact he likes going to the hospital because he likes blowing up the latex gloves into what he calls, "Glove balloons" aka....Mickey Mouses air balloon. Supposedly, these tubes are one's that can't fall out, but rather have to be surgically removed at a later date.......we'll see. I'm hoping so. This little boy has had too many ear infections in his short little life.

Then it dawns on me it's show and tell time at school on Thursdays, and they have to bring something yellow. His tracTOR is yellow and he wants to take it to SHOW & Tell (not hotel).

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY SWEET EMERY

Happy 2nd Birthday sweet Emery. I can hardly believe it was two years ago already that our family was blessed with the miracle of Emery Kathryn.

You were a fighter from the beginning. Born 3 mos. premature at 1 lb. 9oz. and 12 inches long. You were tiny...a micro-preemie is what they called you. You spent your first 74 days of life in the care of the NICU of the Univ. of Kentucky hospital. You had so many great nurses and doctors.

Your mommy and daddy came to see you every day. It was so hard to see you with all your wires, electrodes, tubes, etc...You are a miracle. Absolutely a perfect child, no setbacks or delays of any sort. God had you in his hand the whole time and he continues to make you strong.

Even though we don't get to see you nearly as often as we wish, you are never far from our thoughts. Luke asks about Emery "baby" all the time. He loves his cousin so much. I wish we could all be together for your birthday but distance prevents that. At least GranDee is there "representing" the rest of us. Eat lots of cake. We love you sweet girl. You're growing into a fine little young lady.

We just returned from a 3 day 11th anniversary trip to Nashville, TN. We went there on our 1 year anniversary and because of a scheduled biz trip that Jason had, we got to spent our 11 year anniversary there too. We love Nashville. I could so move there. It's pretty, clean and lots of fun sights and sounds. We had a blast hitting Broadway's many honky tonks. The highlight of my trip was getting a tattoo. I've been wanting to do it for awhile and finally had the guts to do it. It didn't hurt, just felt like a really bad sunburn. So, now I have "Faith" on my foot. It really looks cool. Although, I know tattoos aren't for everyone, I like mine. Jason and I got to meet Matt Mason and Melanie Torres both Nashville Star contestants from years past. They both sang awesome. We had fun eating out, having yummy homemade icecream on Broadway and taking in the sights, sounds and spirits (and I don't mean ghosts).
Thank you to my best friend Heather for watching Luke for us and for Nana and Poppa as well. It was nice to get away, relax and enjoy each other. P.S. I KNOW I need a pedicure. Have to wait until the tattoo heals first.

More than a Red Flag...

Let me set the scene. I wrote out checks to pay 2 bills, put them in their assigned envelopes with the stub from the creditor with our account# on it, etc. My husband put them in the mailbox at 6:00 am this morning.

Fastforward to 12:30 pm. I am enjoying a leisurely sushi lunch with my two girlfriends when I receive a call on my cell phone. "Hello, Heather". "Yes, this is she". "This is Patricia from XXX Bank, did you write a check to Mr. John Allen for $300 for A/C repairs recently?" "Ugh, no". "Hmmmm...yeah we didn't think so either but he did try to cash one drawn on your account with your forged signature." "Is he still there at the bank?". "No, he took off we did retain the check and need you to come down as soon as possible." "Thank you Patricia, I'll be there in 15 minutes". "Ok, I'll flag your account that there is fraudlent activity so that if he tries to cash anymore checks on your account they will not be cashed". "Thank you, I'll see you soon".

My mind was racing as to where this guy could have gotten my checks, etc. When I got to the bank I realized he'd stolen them out of my mailbox this morning because he had made a new check (looked like a money order) out to himself, using the EXACT check # I used to pay the bill left in my mailbox, then he forged my name at the bottom and in the memo line wrote "For a/c repair".

He actually went inside the bank lobby to cash it, presented his id, placed his thumbprint on the check and then when the teller told him that she needed to verify the check he said, "Uh, I have a phone call I need to take in my car, I'll be right back!" He promptly hightailed it out to his car, jumped in and sped away. Not before being caught on camera at the bank, leaving his thumbprint on the check and forgetting his state issued id card. Sounds like he should be featured on the next episode of, "America's Dumbest Criminals". The teller also got his license plate # as he zoomed away. What an idiot.

It really was frustrating having to close my account, open a new one, close my two credit card accounts from the bills he stole out of my mailbox. Thankfully, because of the vigilance of the bank teller no money was stolen from me. But, what a jerk.

It really angers me that people are that hard up for money that they pull scheme's like this. I cannot press charges against him because he didn't get any money out of it. I'm frustrated that I cannot press charges for forgery though. Ugh! Why does our justice system always protect the predator rather than the victim.

My word of caution to anyone who pays bills and put's them in their own mailbox to mail out, and raises the red flag. You are ONLY raising the red flag to alert the criminals that you have outgoing mail then can take. PLEASE...save yourself the heartache and, take any bills you need to pay to a post office or secure postal drop off facility. You will divert all potential problems like this. Also, if you pay a bill and the creditor's note says to include account # on the check, so that it's easier for them to process your payment. DON'T, only put the last 4 digits of your account number on your check. Now if the coupon enclosed in the envelope with your check already has your account number pre-printed on it, well you're basically out of luck if it gets in the criminals hand. Sad and scary, but it happens.

Hope everyone has a safe Labor Day. Don't forget mail doesn't come/or go out on Monday, so REALLY don't leave outgoing bills in your mailbox with the red flag up over the long holiday weekend.

I had this idea for a great tasting smoothie today. So, what did I do...combined all the "not-so-secret" ingredients in the blender and voila'.........LIQUID HEAVEN! You think I'm kidding? Try it yourself and you'll agree. In fact, I bet you already have all these ingredients at your house RIGHT NOW.

Ingredients:
1 medium size banana
1 pkg. Great Value (WalMart brand) French Vanilla instant pudding mix
1-2 cups of Horizon Organic 2% milk
1-2 cups of crushed ice (from fridge's auto icemaker)

Blend well until it's a "smoothie" consistency. Drop in a straw and enjoy!

You will not believe how yummy! Try it and report back to you. There are all kinds options for fat free and sugar-free varieties. Sugar-free Chocolate pudding mix, Skim Milk, Fat-free milk.

I am so excited that I discovered this yummy treat! It's quite possibly the best smoothie I've ever tasted.

I'm calling it Simple, Liquid Heaven Smooth-Ings.....(Get it-Smoothie and Pudding mixed) Oh well, just go try it.

Weekend wrapup....

Sorry no pic's from the weekend. We were SO busy though, appt's, friends over for dinners/lunches, cookouts, birthday parties, etc....

I went with my friend to purchase school supplies for her 3 kids. Holy macaroni, I cannot believe the very specific supplies list from the local school districts. I do not ever remember having to get "quadrille graph paper". Honestly, I don't even know what that is. Also, when did kindergartners need index cards, highlighters, composition books and 6 spiral bound notebooks. All I remember from kindergarten supplies in 1977 was having to have the paper with the dashed lines on it for writing practice...or was that for first grade. Either way, the list wasn't TWO PAGES long. Crazy! A person can go broke with all the supplies needed these days to get a "proper" education. Does anyone think the school districts are getting any "kickbacks" from Mead and Papermate? Hmmm....I wonder!

I am SO EXCITED that my sister and my niece Emery are going to be here next weekend! I haven't seen them since Thanksgiving and I'm missing them greatly. We're going to have so much fun catching up and eating Pho'. (My sister and I always have to visit our obligatory Vietnamese Restaurant Pho' Que Huong for some rocking noodle bowls and spring rolls). Sis, I found one in Frisco. Plus, I want to introduce her to Gelato, of course.

One more week until Luke starts school. I am SO ready for summer to be over. That includes the frippin' 120 F temp's. It is this time every year where I say to myself, "why the H.E.double hockey sticks do I live here?". Only in Texas can it be 120 F day and snowing the next.

In other news, I'm enjoying helping in our churches Tower Coffee Shop...hopefully soon to be renamed to HE Brews....It's a blast making frozen latte's, frappuchino's and the like. I am truly blessed by being able to serve in this capacity 3 Sunday's a month. It's fun and I get to meet so many new people as well as create some truly decadent smoothies.

One more funny, before I end for today's post. Yesterday, I was getting ready to leave early for church to open the coffee shop. I was scurrying around to get Luke's clothes on and him ready so that all daddy would have to do was put him in the car and go. We were in his room. I'd stripped him of his night time pull-up (yes, he still has pee pee accidents during the night). I had put on his shirt and other than that he was standing there butt naked. I was trying to get him to put on his big boy underwear when I notice him "fiddling with his vittles" very uh.....aggressively. I calmly said, "what are you doing son?" Matter-of-factly he replied, "I'm dancing with my penis Mommy". Ok, I about lost it laughing but instead I maintained my composure and said, "Honey, we don't need to dance with our penis." His reply, "Okay". Boys, always creating fun conversations for Mommy's and Daddy's. You gotta love him.

Trickery is when I'm the one that planned the "girl's night out" to see, Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 2 movie, and THEY turn it into a surprise birthday party for ME.

I am never surprised, but I must say when I arrived at Starbucks and my gal pals were all sitting there and said, "SURPRISE!", I truly was. I was supposed to JUST be meeting Lori, for coffee BEFORE the movie.

So, with all their Strategery (Bush-ism) they managed to pull one over on me.

My best bud Heather made the "pants" cake. She's so creative. I made everybody kiss my butt. Even a total stranger (man sitting reading his book) He was a good sport and I even gave him a piece of my butt cake. I just told him not to tell his wife that he went to Starbucks tonight and got a piece of @$$.

I had a blast, they showered me with fun gifts and afterwards we all went to see the movie, which ROCKED!!! Keira we missed you at the movie, but thanks for coming to the pre-party bash. You brought sexy back (wink)

Thanks to all the girls who came. I had so much fun! I have the bestest girlfriends in the entire world.

Why? You ask........well,

For starters I'm sharing my newest favorite food item and a "famous" friends recipe. You'll LOVE me AND you'll HATE me.

First, Gelato........my friend Lori got me addicted to this last week and it's like a snowball running out of control...........Bigger....BIGGER, bam (as Emeril would say) FULL BLOWN ADDICTION!!!

If you've never tried Gelato it's WAY TASTIER than icecream and it's better for you. I do not know why it took me 36 years (well technically, 35 years and 361 days--I turn 36 this Friday) to discover this delectable little treat. To find out more about Gelato, google it...Find out where they sell it in your area and go directly to the nearest store. If you're local, they sell it in Frisco at Pacuigo's Italian Gelato store near Stonebriar mall and at Market Street.

Next, in honor of my dear friend Margaret who passed away 2 wks ago. I made her "famous" homemade mac-n-cheese recipe this weekend. Margaret was a fabulous cook. What I like best was her AWESOME mac-n-cheese recipe. I don't think she would mind me passing it along so others can enjoy it too. You will never eat boxed macaroni and cheese again, after trying this recipe. Try it, you'll see what I'm talking about. Follow this recipe for cheesy greatness.

2 cups of elbow macaroni (cooked and drained)
1 stick of salted butter
1 pound of Velvetta cheese
Milk

Cook and drain macaroni. Put in large pyrex dish. Chop butter into squares and mix it thoroughly with the macaroni. Chop up the velvetta cheese into squares and mix it with the macaroni. Pour in about a cup of milk (or more if you want it creamier). Seasoned salt and pepper to taste. Bake at 375F degrees for at least 45 minutes or until golden brown on top. Great for Sunday's after church, family gatherings or any time you need a yummy dish because you're PMS'ing. Soul food.

Rinse and repeat.

Conversations I wish would last forever...

This is just adorable. One of those precious moments with your child that you wish you could bottle up and keep forever.

It started this morning when Luke crawled in bed with me after Jason had left for work.

He snuggled down right next to my face and began this conversation:

Luke: Hi, Mommy...where's daddy...oh yeah, he's not here...he's at work.

Me: (half asleep) Uh-huh!

Luke: That's okay, Luke Rice is here, and I'll protect you.

Me: Okay

Luke: Yeah, me and the angels and Jesus.

Luke: We should pray. I'm going to pray, ok?

Me: Okay

Luke: Dear Jesus, thank you for this day...protect us with the angels and Jesus, Amen.

Me: I hugged him and said, Oh, sweetie that was such a beautiful prayer.

Luke: You like it Mommy?

Me: Yes, I loved it.

Luke: Now I gonna give you a kiss. (leans down and smooches my cheek)

Me: Ah, thank you... mommy loves Luke's kisses.

Luke: Ah, you liked it. You did smiley face.

Luke: Ok mommy, the sun's not sleeping anymore so it's time to get up. Get up mommy, okay?

It was such a precious little moment. I just love that boy. I wish he could stay little forever.

The highs and lows of life..

Yesterday was hard, Jason was a pallbearer at our dear friend Margaret's funeral. Although, I'm glad to know she is with Jesus and cancer/pain-free, it is still sad for those of us left here on earth. I cannot imagine the pain and loss that Larry, her husband is feeling losing his spouse. I cannot imagine the pain that Russell her son is experiencing with his first baby on the way. Nor, can I imagine the pain Becky, her daughter is feeling as she and her husband just had Margaret's first grandbaby 11 days before she died. I do not have an answer as to why God allows situations such as cancer to take people from this life. I DO know the Lord is Sovereign and everything little detail fit's into HIS plan for us. He uses every circumstance to draw people to Him. Whether we understand it or not. My prayer is for Margaret's loved one's who are left behind. Her parents Buford and Louise, her husband Larry and her son/daughter Russell and Becky. Margaret, you made such an impact on so many people's lives. Personally, had you not had Russell I would not have met Jason and we would not have had Luke. Thankyou for your life and service to other's, may you rest in peace and dance on the streets of gold. We all know how you love to dance. You are already missed by many.

On a lighter note, it was nice to be invited over for dinner tonight at Lisa's house (you'll remember she's our Extreme Home Makeover recepient from last week) Dinner was delicious and I thought I'd show a couple pic's that were taken.

Cancer, YOU DID NOT WIN! Jesus did. It was time, Jesus called Margaret home this afternoon. Her son and her daughter were there beside her, as she took her final breath. What a beautiful thing to be in the presence of Jesus. Although, our hearts ache, we know that she is with her Savior.

Thank you Margaret for sharing your life. You are an example to all, of what it means to live life to the fullest. Funeral arrangements are pending. If you are one of my faithful blog readers, please pray for the Wilson family-- both immediate and extended. Both of Margaret's parents are still alive, they are well up in their late 80's. I had dinner with them tonight. They are mourning the loss of their sweet daughter. This is the second child they've lost. No one should ever outlive their children.

Thank you for sharing Margaret with us. She's was a beautiful person and faithful friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. May you find solace, knowing that she is with Jesus.

"Bus Driver, MOVE THAT BUS!!!"....Home Makeover

The long awaited slideshow is finally here. This weekend I was honored to participate in the best thing I've ever done in my entire life (short of delivering a baby, and getting married or course!)

Let me explain how it all began. God blessed US by allowing single mom Lisa and her 3 kids visit our church a few months back. The rest is history. A few of us met her a couple weeks back, as she volunteered to help with Vacation Bible School. As we began to talk to her, we learned her story. She recently moved out of a homeless shelter that she's been living in for over a year with her 12 yr old daughter Quianna and 5 year old twin's Zoe and Zion. She's a single mom who's had a very rough life these past few years. She's not one to ask for ANY TYPE of help, although she desperately needed it. She has a college degree and took her test for teacher certification this past Sat. This was all the time we needed to kick a plan into action. So, in true Extreme Home Makeover fashion (Ty Pennington would be so proud) we kicked her and the kids out of the house for 2 days (they stayed with friends) and told her not to return until 6:30pm Sat. night.

Last Thurs. emails went out from our small group at church asking for donations for our home makeover transformation. Never in a million years would I have thought how it would all end up. It was nothing short of a miracle how the Lord sovereignly brought together JUST THE RIGHT people, donations, color scheme's, decorating talents, organizational talents, etc......Every room has a story from the way colors, furniture and accessories match to last minute donations. Lisa is able to lease this house and has been there since March. It is a 2 year old house that literally had 1 bed that all 4 of them were sleeping in. It had a bistro kitchen table that Lisa bought at a garage sale for $75 bucks (it was the envy of all of us- just gorgeous) They had a couple washcloths, towels and that was about it. No pillows, sleeping bags on the floor in the kids rooms and no toys.

EVERYTHING YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE SLIDESHOW WAS DONATED. From 2 fridges, 5 tvs, beds for EVERY room, dressers, computer desk, formal and non-formal living room furniture, formal dining table, china hutch, dishes, curtains. We painted the house from the front door to the back door. The reaction on her face when they walked in was priceless. I am so humbled at the things I take for granted. That night Lisa told me, "Oh, my gosh we all have blankets tonight". Like me, you've probably got at least 3 spare blankets sitting in a closet. She couldn't believe she had lamps on her nightstands and that someone had given her a George Foreman grill. It's the little things that those of us who haven't been through what Lisa has, take for granted.

We (all 25+ people physically involved)were so blessed by being part of this project that a couple of us are considering starting a non-profit ministry and do this on a regular basis. NOTHING I have ever done blessed me as much as this experience. GOD IS SO GOOD! Thank you to everyone who donated time, tangibles. She now has a stocked pantry, two stocked refridgerators and MUCH, MUCH more. There is enough stuff in the garage still to furnish a second house. She's going to go through that stuff, keep what she wants, give away what other's she knows needs and have a garage sale for the rest. She's so excited to get to do this for someone else. What a giver she is. Lisa, we pray this is a fresh start for You, Quianna, Zoe and Zion. You deserve nothing but the best. Glad you like your yellow bathroom and that the kiddo's are enjoying their fun rooms.

To my sweet friend Margaret,

We came to visit you last night. You looked so peaceful. We stroked your hair, kissed your cheek, held your hand and told you how much we love you. I could tell you heard us. You tried to respond. You are a beautiful women who adds so much to our lives. You just had your first grand baby 10 days ago and he loves his grandma. You are expecting another grandbaby in March. These last 4 months have been so hard on you. What you have endured through chemo, hospitalization's, surgical procedures no one should ever have to endure. The hospice nurses told us that it could be any time now. You are not in any pain and we are grateful, you've endured too much already. Thank you for giving us Russell and Becky. I know you are proud of them. If it hadn't been for Russell, Jason and I would have never met. You are such a treasure. Always smiling from ear to ear. Your zest for life is unparalled. I wish more than anything that we had more time with you. I know that Lord has other plans. As I told you last night, it is an honor to call you friend. Your spirit will live on through your kids and grandchildren. Turkey dinners won't be the same without you. Walks around the cul-de-sac won't be the same without you. All of us are forever changed for knowing you. Rest sweetly dear friend and when it comes time for the Lord to call you home know that we will be ok, Larry will be ok. Look down from heaven and be our guardian angel. We love you so much Margaret.

I quoted the scripture to you last night Jeremiah 26:14--As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right.

The time has come and it's good and right for you to live in heaven with Jesus. Thank you for sharing your life with us. We are better for having known you.

Remember how I said a few posts back how God is in the details of our lives. Even the things that seem so trivial or minute. I have an example to share with you all. Some, who might not know how God works, would think it mere coincidence. Not me.

I know better. Every tiny situation is orchestrated by God above. Here's the story. I was designing a necklace for a customer the other day. She wanted a specific scripture verse hand-stamped on a silver disc necklace. I was stamping away when I came to stamping the actual numbers. It just so happens that in my steel forged metal stamp set you use the same stamp for the "9" AND the "6". You see where I'm going here.....

The reference was SUPPOSED to be Jeremiah 29:11, which is: "For I know the plans I have for you, " declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". She's giving this necklace to her daughter as gift as she heads off to college. I inadvertantly stamped Jeremiah 26...when I realized it was suppose to be a "9". So, I stopped immediately and thought to myself there has to be a way to salvage this sterling silver disc. I ran to get my bible to see if Jeremiah 26 held any verses that might be nice to quote on the disc. Funny how God works. HE'D orchestrated what I thought was a "mistake"...only to be surprised that he had a verse HE wanted me to see all along. It was this.

Jeremiah 26:14--As for me, I am in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right.

I have long looked for a scripture that personifies Me, and the mission I want to accomplish through the ministry of my business Faith Creations, LLC. It's not just jewelry I am creating. I want my designs to mean something to the wearer. I want them to smile when they wear my creations, and most of all I want God to be glorified through my works. Until now...I haven't found a scripture that I "felt" accurately described ME. I believe that's because God wanted me to have this verse as my life verse. So, may I introduce to the Mission Statement verse for Faith Creations, LLC.

Jeremiah 26:14 AS FOR ME, I AM IN YOUR HANDS; DO WITH ME WHATEVER YOU THINK IS GOOD AND RIGHT.

I just love it. Thank you Jesus for showing me this little nugget in Your timing.

On a side note, I'm SO THRILLED to get to be His hands this weekend as our church small group and lots of brothers and sisters in Christ honor a special lady at our church who has had a rough 2 years. She's a single mom with 3 kids who has recently moved into a home of her own from the homeless shelter she's been living in for the last year. We've adopted her family and are totally furnishing her new home. It's all about pulling together resources and talents and blessings someone who truly deserves to have things go right for her for once. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to BE YOUR HANDS. Nothing touches my heart more than being able to help others. This is a tangible way I can contribute.

I also want to say that for the next few months (I haven't decided how long yet) I will be donating 10% of all my jewelry sales to her family. They are in dire need of help. Friends, they lost everything and are starting from scratch, literally. We're talking no pillows to lay their heads upon at night. That will all change this weekend. I am honored to get to be part of God's plan.

God is in the details....

I wanted to drop a quick line to let everyone know how little man is doing after his tonsil removal surgery Friday. This weekend was rough, he slept mostly. Friday he was really incoherent as the anesthesia wore off and he started to feel "un-numb". He ran a low grade fever thru Sat. Then Sat., he seemed to be more respondant to trying some jello. Red was his favorite flavor. Then, he discovered applesauce. How a 4 year old can survive on applesauce (multiple mini-cups) for 2 1/2 days is beyond me. He's never gotten sick and vomited like they assured me he most likely would do. God is in the details....He's also decided that he doesn't want any popsicles or icecream. I don't understand this, but I'm not questioning. In the meantime, mommy and daddy are making up for his lack of icecream consumption. Gotta watch that, huh?

Luke's been watching lots of cartoons. If I see another episode of Wow, Wow, Wubzy, Max and Ruby, Backyardigans or Go Diego Go, I'm going to have to be committed. For now, it makes him happy and helps with his mental state of mind keeping him from focusing on the pain. It's funny how his little voice has changed. He's a tenor now. I got so use to hearing his garbled marbles voice. Kinda wierd to hear this new tone. It's so much less "Charlie Brown's teacher-ish".

Today, he and I ventured out for the first time since Fri. and went to Target. He wanted to exchange two birthday gifts that he rec'd for one's that "didn't scare him" (his words) Evidently, The Hulk and Batman are bad, scary guys and he told me he didn't "wike" (like) them. Sorry, whoever gave him those. We returned them and he got himself a Chick Hicks car (from the movie Cars). He told the cashier that this one didn't scare him. She was like, "Uh, oh kay whatever".

I'm so proud of my brave boy. He's really been a trooper. One last funny story. While at Target we perused the aisles for items that he might be able to eat without pain. I spied the soup aisle had "Lightining McQueen" chicken noodle soup. The noodles are shaped like cars. He saw it too and said, "Mommy can I get that soup, It's alright, it won't hurt my FEELINGS". I laughed and kissed him on the nose. He's so cute. So, for now the pain in the back of his throat is affectionately called his "feelings". Too funny, huh? We also got some more apple sauce, cinnamon and strawberry flavored this time. I told him these new flavors wouldn't hurt his feelings either. He obliged. Anyone wanting to partake of some sugary delights we have about 4 gallons of icecream and a box of Dora popsicles that need to be consumed.

One more quick story about how God is so in the details. After running to Hobby Lobby in Allen for a quick item I needed for necklace making we attempted the Chickfila drive thru in Allen. So freakin many cars I said, "Luke we'll go to the one by our house in McKinney". We left and headed home. As I pulled up in the drivethru to place our order I noticed a friend of mine who moved to Iowa last year. I called her cell phone and after getting our order I ran inside to say Hi. Turns out she's in town on vacation. Back here to visit friends while her hubby who works for John Deere attends a required training in CO for 3 wks. It was great to see her and her kids. Hi LaNae.

God is SO in every detail of our life.

Back to bed now, had to administer Luke's antibiotic.

Frida Kahlo (1907-1954), Mexican Painter.

From 1926 until her death, the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo created striking, often shocking, images that reflected her turbulent life. Kahlo was one of four daughters born to a Hungarian-Jewish father and a mother of Spanish and Mexican Indian descent, in the Mexico City suburb of Coyoacán.

She did not originally plan to become an artist. A polio survivor, at 15 Kahlo entered the premedical program at the National Preparatory School in Mexico City. However, this training ended three years later when Kahlo was gravely hurt in a bus accident. She spent over a year in bed, recovering from fractures of her back, collarbone, and ribs, as well as a shattered pelvis and shoulder and foot injuries. Despite more than 30 subsequent operations, Kahlo spent the rest of her life in constant pain, finally succumbing to related complications at age 47.

During her convalescence Kahlo had begun to paint with oils. Her pictures, mostly self-portraits and still lifes, were deliberately naive, filled with the bright colors and flattened forms of the Mexican folk art she loved. At 21, Kahlo fell in love with the Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, whose approach to art and politics suited her own. Although he was 20 years her senior, they were married in 1929; this stormy, passionate relationship survived infidelities, the pressures of Rivera's career, a divorce and remarriage, and Kahlo's poor health. The couple traveled to the United States and France, where Kahlo met luminaries from the worlds of art and politics; she had her first solo exhibition at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York City in 1938. Kahlo enjoyed considerable success during the 1940s, but her reputation soared posthumously, beginning in the 1980s with the publication of numerous books about her work by feminist art historians and others. Bye Bye Tonsils....Hello Popsicles

I told all my friends that I was officially declaring today, "EAT LOTS OF POPSICLES" day in honor of Luke's tonsilectomy. I hope you all enjoyed your favorite colors. I ate a purple DORA popsicle.

Update on my brave boy: He did great, with the help of a mild sedative (Versed). Let's just say that there was a "slight" mixup in the surgery time. His surgery was to begin at 11:45 AM ,which is why I suppose they had us get there at 10:30AM.

Surgery didn't ACTUALLY start until 1:20PM, people. Hello, clue phone it's for you hospital surgery scheduling lady. Next time, when you don't follow the surgeons orders and schedule my son at 8AM like he said, YOU get to occupy a 4 yr old in a backless hospital gown that he hates, and a name bracelet that he hates MORE than the gown for 3 hours. There's only so much coloring and Transformer movie watching one can handle, you'll see.

Ok, taking deep breath. Off my soapbox. All in all, Luke did great. It was funny hearing him talk after they gave him the sedative. We were asking him all kinds of silly questions just to see what he'd say. I know, we're bad. One of the funny things he did was take his little teddy bear's arms and pull them out the their sides and say, "look mommy, bear has wings" and then a big giggle. He kept smiling real big when I would say, "show mommy your happy face". Then he'd play with my hair and giggle. Too funny.

Dr. says his tonsils were HUGE, as big as golf balls. They had a hard time getting the first one out, but then the 2nd one was a breeze. Poor kid, no wonder why he snored like a locomotive. Tonsils are gone and Luke is resting well in his own bed tonight. They have him on an antibiotic, anti-nausea med and pain med's. I must report that he DID TRY and eat a popsicle today while at the hospital. Unfortunately, the morphine got the best of him and while attempting to stick it in his mouth he stuck it in his eye so we took it away.

We'll try again tomorrow. I'm sure he'll be much better when he see's Aunt Brooke, Cuzzin Emery and GranDee when he wakes up in the morning. Sis and Em are flying in to see him for the weekend. He also will get his big birthday present from them and money that Granna sent him. A new Spiderman bike. He's going to be so thrilled.

It struck me as funny....

First let me start off by saying, "I DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST THE RESTAURANT, HOOTERS!". This just struck me as funny.

I was pulling out of the church parking lot this morning after dropping off Luke at Vacation Bible School.

In front of me is this lady driving a SUV with TWO Hooter's bumper stickers on the back. One said, "I Love Hooters" and the other one said, "Hooters Make Me Happy".

Now, I can eat Hooters wings with the best of them (my fav's are the HOT one's) it just struck me as funny seeing a lady, pulling out of a church parking lot with those bumper stickers on her car.

My sister and my sweet niece Emery are coming to town next weekend. I'm so excited, I can hardly see straight. It's been almost a year since I've seen them. I cannot wait to kiss those sweet little cheeks. Look how cute my niece is. The cutest little girl in the whole wide world. Luke is going to love seeing Baby Emery as he calls her and I cannot wait to introduce Santi to Emery. I think they'll be great little buddies. Amorette, I found some tortilla chips at World Market today that are gluten-free (just an FYI)

Passion Roses.....Low-Lights

Look at this bouquet of beautiful passion roses I bought yesterday. Yes, I do buy myself flowers. Actually, these were for my "girls" (my monthly gals Pokeno group). I hosted last night. We had a good time laughing (at my expense) and imbibing on the finest wine (my current fav is Llano Estacado Sweet Red--thanks for getting me hooked Amorette). If you haven't tried it, you're really missing a great sweet red table wine. It was a huge hit. The nights not over until someone breaks a wine glass, which I did.

Finally, I got hub's to take a picture of my latest hair color. It's low-lights and the camera doesn't really capture the hue's too well, but you can get the idea. It has dark and light, hence....the word low-lights.

Been so busy cleaning out my studio....got to get down to some jewelry biz. Stopped by a garage sale this morning and I bought a shelf to store my bling, bling on. It was so desperately needed. Only $10 buckola's. Not too shabby, oh and the guy even delivered it for me. I paid him an extra dollar for delivery...wink (gas prices are high these days and he was 1/2 the way down the street people...inflation)

To my sister in law "AMBA"....get your hiney to YOUR blog and update it. It's been almost a month, then you can rag on me! (double-wink)

I've been getting things in order to launch some more jewelry designs so stay tuned....Stamped Sterling silver, some awesome Crystal drop pendants (WAIT TILL YOU SEE THESE BEAUTIES) UPDATE: SEE THE "AMORE'" BEAUTY IN MY ABOVE POST My mind's been churning out ideas, thoughts, designs and it's been working overtime. Meaning...some ideas have come while I lay down trying to nod off to sleep.

Luke's been at gymnastic's camp all week and he's loving it. His favorite apparatus, the "travmpoeween" as he calls it. He'll be doing camp again next week. May have a future olympian on our hands. He also is becoming quite fond of The Transformer's (thanks to Daddy). So, that's all he's been asking for, for his bday in 2 wks. Apparently, the most popular transformer is Optimus Prime....Luke calls him, "Octopus Crime". Isn't that hilarious. Part of it is his nasty tonsils that are causing his speech problems....but those babies are coming out in 2 weeks. Thank goodness, he's snoring like a locomotive. Between me hearing him on the baby monitor and Daddy snoring right next to me, I feel like I'm in a SNORE SYMPHONY.

I've been being silly (see above pics). Hope everyone in blog-land is well. We're enjoying the summer. VBS is coming up in a week, so Luke's excited about that too. So many activities, so little time.

We've had a lovely time visiting family in Montana this week. A couple days left, and we'll be headed home. We've gotten to do lots of fun things. Yesterday, we went to Yellowstone Nat'l Park and saw lots of animals (pic's to come) and got to see Old Faithful Geyser.

It's beautiful here and the weather is to die for. Day time highs in the low 80's and evening's around 45-50ish.....I am not looking forward to returning to the hot Texas sun. The mountains are as beautiful as always, and there is still snow at the tops of many peaks.

Last Thurs. they rec'd 18 inches of snow so you can imagine the valley below is really getting some run-off. I missed blogging, so I hopped on my uncle's computer to catch up. I was having "withdrawals". Hope all is well with all my blog readers.

Today I ventured out for the first time in like 2 weeks. I took Luke to the mall to ride the carousel and to just get out of the house. He had fun, rode the horse and got to get some jelly beans at the candy store (pushover, I know).

He did really well listening and following directions. Only one time did we have to use the paddle today and that was when he decided to throw his rice up in the air at the mexican restaurant at dinner tonight. Cleanup at table #4. I'm sure they hate to see us coming.

I am slowly but surely regaining energy and am about to be back to "normal" (whatever that is). I am excited about an upcoming trip and HAVE to have energy for that.

Well the last weekend required another ER trip. I won't give you the gory details. I have a very severe bladder infection requiring lots of antibiotics and lots of pain pills. I've been laying low and letting Jason, Mom and Luke pamper me. I don't know what I'd do with out my sweet Hubby, Mom and son. Please keep praying for me. Thanks.

To get the pest control people out when your son lays a chip down on the floor to "let the ant eat it". We've had these crazy little sugar ants invade the last week or so. It happens every year around this time. Don't worry we're not messy people (ask anyone, I have Mr. Anal Retentive Extraordinaire Clean Freak as a husband) we're pretty much "white glove worthy" any day of the week. But, somehow these little creatures still make it in. Pest control guy will be here at 12 noon to rid our house of these pesky little creatures. Until then, pray we don't get carried off in our sleep.

Luke informed me today that on Monday and Wednesdays he would like to go over to play with his friend Tanner. He was very explicit in his instructions, ONLY Monday and Wed. Funny huh!

Finally, I have a fun little poll AT THE VERY BOTTOM (scroll ALL the way down) that you can be a part of, if you wish.

I am feeling a bit better so thanks for those of you who've been lifting me up in prayer.

If you could please add one more thing to your prayer list. A friend (Vicki) from my old church was in a serious car accident last Wed. Her Explorer hydroplaned into a telephone pole. No airbag deployment since she was hit on the side. She was extricated from the vehicle and Careflited to trauma at a local hospital. She was near death upon arrival to the hospital. She's been clinging to life with the aid of a ventilator, swelling of the brain has occured as well as blood seepage. The Dr's. and family have made the decision to remove the ventilator and see if she can breathe on her own. If she continues breathing they will continue care, if she doesn't she will pass. It's an extremely fragile situation as her husband came upon the accident when his wife never showed up to their lunch date. The paramedics had already air-lifted her. I cannot imagine. I you could please pray for peace for their family and for Cecil, Vicki's husband as well. This could happen to any of us guys. The fragility of life is sometimes taken for granted....until you almost lose it.

After classes in handstamping sterling silver (which is harder than it looks) and metal oxidation, I feel like I've got a pretty good grasp of the art of handstamped fine sterling silver. Off to take more pain pills....but before I go I have to share this cute little conversation I had with Luke today while running my one errand to the bank.

He said, "Mommy, where we going?"
I replied, "to the bank, let's just look out the windows while we drive and see all the beautiful things that Jesus created outside our windows".
He looks out the window and said, "Oh WOW, Jesus made a lot of pretty things out there but.....UH OH!"
I said, "What's wrong?" He said, "Jesus would be very sad".
"Why?" I replied.
He said, "Oh, mommy Jesus would be very sad that I can't see out these dirty windows". I laughed because he and Jason washed my car for me this weekend.

Oh the conversations with a 3 yr. old, wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

Sleeping is proving challenging....

During the night that is. Seems that my anti-biotic, coupled with the pain pills I'm on cause insomnia. So, my days and nights are all switched around. Thanks for those of you who continually call in and check on me. I am still in pain, and I get tired very easily but since Tues. I do have to say I think I'm 1% better (how's that for optimism). Just wanted to touch base to ask you to keep the prayers coming. They are much felt and appreciated.

Choosing to look at the positive side...

Regarding yesterdays ER visit. I got right in, didn't have to wait. Really nice nurse, Esther who empathized with my pain and got me drugs REALLY quickly. Nothing says lovin' like a shot of Dilaudid. Had xrays and CT scan. Both times the person who was my transport person to/from xray's name was Blessing. He was too.

CT scans noted small area of fluid buildup under the diaphraghm. My regular Dr. called me late last night to discuss the test findings. After discussing my specific case with the interventional radiologists all seem to think that the area of concern (1 x 2 CM) is too small to try to drain surgically.

I've been put on a strong course of antibiotics, which I'm praying will dissolve the fluid, thus eliminating the pain. Of course I have been given something to take the edge off too. And let me tell ya, there IS an edge.

I'm thankful that it wasn't more serious. Sometimes, I have the tendency to expect the worse given my past medical history over the last year. But, God is faithful, HE hears your prayers so keep em' coming will ya!

Oh, and another added bonus I had 4 nurses oohing and ahhing over my Luke pendant. They all took my business cards and said they'd be calling to place an order.

So, who said a trip to the ER is ALL BAD??? It's REALLY GOOD FOR BUSINESS~

ER....the real life version

UPDATE: as of 9:35pm tonight...I just spoke to my regular Dr. and he said he's reviewed the films from my CT scan today. It looks like the area of concern, is so small that surgery at this point is not the best course of action. A 3 wk round of antibiotics IS. So, tomorrow I start with medication. No more visits to the hospital are in the cards, unless for some reason things should get worse while on medication.

I visited the ER today. A constant nagging pain on my left side (side that I had all my bariatric surgery stuff on) lead me to the hospital. A few hours, an IV, 3 Dilaudid pain shots, xrays and a CT scan revealed: an abcess under my diaphragm with inflamation and fluid build up (pleural effusion). I was discharged with instructions to go see my regular Dr. tomorrow. So, that's the plan. Possible hospital admission tomorrow to drain fluid. Will know more after tomorrow's "exciting" visit.

Dad, today marks 11 years since you went to heaven. So many events have occurred since you went to see Jesus. I miss you and think of you often. I was reflecting on some life events that I wished you'd gotten to see: Me getting married, you meeting our sweet Luke, me lose 85 lbs., me start my own business and be successful at it, us go to church together and talk about spiritual things, Brooke's wedding, meeting your grand daughter Emery, us build a house, there are many more things that I wish you could have been a part of. I know that you are in a far better place. Selfishly, I just wish you hadn't gone away so soon. In memory of you this morning I explained to Luke that Grandpa needed to see some bubbles up there in heaven so he sent some your way. I hope you caught them and know how much we love you and miss you. There are a couple special friends of mine that have gone to heaven too. If you could please find Charles and Carol Ann tell them we love and miss them too. You will find great friends in them. They will both make you laugh, because they have great senses of humor. Thank you for what you contributed to 24 years of my life. I am convinced that so many of my talents that God blessed me with are the same one's that He gave you. For example, people tell me that I'm good at marketing my jewelry "creations"....You were fabulous at PR, so thanks for setting the standard high. Always know that you are missed and that you are loved very much down here. We will see you again one day.

Not only are they skilled at makeup and eyelash application, they are sassy AND suave. They are very low-maintenance chicks, always have a smile on their face, and don't suffer from PMS. The perfect co-worker's. Oh, and most importantly they showcase my jewelry beautifully (in my humble opinion).

God recently put it on my heart to design a pendant for a very special lady, Chrissy. She recently delivered baby Eva Janette. Eva's is special because of the impact she made here on earth in the short time she was here. God wanted His angel to come home. While it was way too soon to say goodbye, Eva will live on in her families hearts forever.

I designed this special necklace for Chrissy, Eva's mom to wear. My hope is that it brings smiles to her face every time she wears it, and that she is able to keep Eva close to her heart. Eva leaves behind big sis Mya and big bro Dominic, as well as daddy and mommy (& lots of friends). Her story is so touching. Their faith as a family is unshakable.

Our GOD is mighty to save, conquer the grave and give us hope. Thank you Chrissy for being so transparent with your life and the struggles your family is enduring at this time. URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Update**Wed, Apr 23 @ 8am

They were able to locate Rachel at Baylor Hospital downtown Dallas. They visited and she is going to be fine. Not a scratch and that is a God thing as glass was everywhere. You can continue to pray for the girls as inevitably they'll be sore for a few days. Thank you so much for being part of the prayer "chain".

Hello Praying Friends:

If you could please remember my friend Amorette's family in your prayers. Her sister, Selena was in a serious car accident tonight here in McKinney. Selena was driving, and her friend Rachel was in the passenger's seat. Selena is mildly banged up, very shaken up (obviously) but her friend had to be Careflighted to Baylor Hospital. No word on the extent of Rachel's injuries, as the medic's were not allowed to give them any info. on the scene. Please pray for Rachel's recovery, and for Selena as well. The car is totalled. Thank you so much.
